Our First Cruise - Corregidor!!!

It was definitely a first! Roger and Edie on a cruise. Okay, so it only lasted a little
over an hour but it's a start, right? We went with some of the senior missionaries
in our zone to the island of Corregidor.
We gathered at Manila Bay with the Millers, Enderlys, Baileys, Jensens,
Hadlocks, and Sis. Fahrner.
This man is selling some breakfast for some who hadn't taken time to eat!
We were seated on the boat and began our cruise to Corregidor.

Upon our arrival we were each assigned to a small tour bus along with a guide.
We gave her our full attention.

During the fight for the Philippines in WWII, Japan shelled Corregidor and these
are some of the barracks that were destroyed.
These are some artillery that the Americans and Filipinos used to defend the island.

Hadlocks, DuPaixs, and Baileys.
One of the American Flags that have flown over Corregidor.

"Brother's in Arms" shows an American
 soldier helping his Filipine brother.

A few, including General McAurthor, were evacuated before the final assult.
This is the pier for which they left.

We, like General McAurthor, vowed that we would return!
Remains of Officers day room where they could socialize. Evidence of Japanese shelling.
The Pacific War Memorial. A rotunda honoring those who defended Corregidor.
 Looking out from the Island.
Preparing for our tour of the tunnel. Headquarters was established here
along with a hospital. Corregidor is one of the most important historical
 sites of the Philippines.
Metro Manila coming into view as we returned from a wonderful day!
